Senior Specialist, Economics

JOB PURPOSE:

Participate in the consolidation and contribution to the enhancement of economic research methodology in the preparation of required studies in the areas of oil and gas, the global energy sector, and the industries they are related to (demand and supply) in order to ensure that the strategic and business planning process is effective, continuously improved and the key performance indicators are set, measured and achieved. Participate in the development of corporate long-term outlooks, and oil/gas prices long-term forward curves. Support the development of corporate energy scenarios.

Job Specific Accountabilities
Corporate Strategy
•    Participate in the consolidation and contribution to the enhancement of economic research methodology in the preparation of required studies in the areas of oil and gas, the global energy sector, and the industries they are related to (demand and supply) in order to ensure that the strategic and business planning process is effective, continuously improved and the key performance indicators are set, measured and achieved.
•    Participate and contribute to the development and refinement of the vision and long-term strategy of ADNOC, and contribute to the overall process of corporate governance, management and corporate decision making to ensure the organization maximizes returns to its shareholders.
•    Provide input to corporate investment guidelines.
Economic Analysis
•    Participate in the monitoring and collation of key economic data covering the oil and gas industry and the energy sector into organized data in order to inform and guide ADNOC's policies and operations.
•    Develop and maintain economic models for upstream and downstream oil & gas investment for currently operated and non-operated projects.
•    Collaborate to ensure consistency of ADNOC’s market analysis.
•    Track key global and regional macro-economics and industry trends and indicators, advise on international trade and economic issues, including global and regional trends, as well as developments in the oil and gas sector.
•    Develop and maintain relationships with international bodies from which insights and economic information may be gained and enhance relationships with relevant national bodies.
•    Develop key countries economic profiles with ADNOC relevance.
Research and Development
•    Perform research work in economics, ranging from theoretical methodical issues to applied economics touching on financial issues covering the oil and gas industry and ADNOC Group, in particular.
•    Conduct independent and original research program in global and energy economics.
 Any Other Key Accountabilities 
•    Perform any other key initiatives / projects activities specifically related to the mandate of the ADNOC Group CEO, the Government of Abu Dhabi and the UAE Government.
•    Work with Group Communications to develop messages for CEO’s presentations and speeches.
Generic Accountabilities
Supervision
•    Plan, supervise and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives.
•    Train and develop the assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to become proficient on the job and deliver the respective section objectives.
Budgets
•    Provide input for preparation of the Unit/Department/Section budgets, assist in the implementation of the approved Budget, and work plans to deliver objectives. 
•    Investigate and highlight any significant variances to support effective performance and cost control.
Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures
•    Implement approved Unit/Department/Section policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures in order to support execution of the work programs in line with Company and International standards.
Performance Management 
•    Contribute to the achievement of the approved Performance Objectives for the Unit/Department/ Section in line with the Company Performance framework.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement
•    Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes.
•    Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with best industry standards in order to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function.
Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) and Sustainability
•    Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures, controls, applicable legislation, and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices and ADNOC Code of Practices.
Reports
•    Provide inputs to prepare Unit/Department/Section MIS and progress reports for Company Management.

•    Manager, Economics & Competitive Intelligence.
•    Manager, Competitive Intelligence and (Senior) Specialists.
•    Manager, Economics and (Senior) Specialists.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: 
Minimum Qualification
•    Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Economy or Engineering disciplines.
•    Master’s degree is preferred. 
Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills
•    8 years’ relevant experience, including at least 5 years of experience in an economic advisory role.
•    Experience in the Oil and Gas industry is required.
•    Track record of presentations related to economics, and oil and gas / energy markets.
