Manager, Gas Studies Department

JOB PURPOSE:

Lead, develop, negotiate and implement effective deals (from origination to deal closure) aimed at future partnership & collaboration in the Gas business in line with Downstream Gas strategy.

Develop & foster formal and informal networks within the Gas industry at a global level and at a local level with the objective of understanding & identifying opportunities & threats to ADNOC.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Market Intelligence & Strategy

  • Lead market intelligence activities; market segment & trends; technological advancements; key and strategic account information; competitive intelligence, strategies and product positioning to support creation of gas development strategies and solutions roadmap.
  • Generate and implement specific, targeted and measurable growth plans while providing direction in optimizing methods to market for specific segments, regions and associated messaging strategies.

Business Development Initiatives:

  • Develop and maintain the strategic growth and value-enhancing options set for the Gas business. Identify long-term opportunities (new-build, acquisition/divestitures, and strategic business alliances) consistent with the company's strategies and improvement plans.
  • Develop shortlisted opportunities through the entire deal cycle with the aim of successful culmination in the form of formal agreements.
  • Lead a team of technical and project experts to develop innovative ideas, regularly challenge conventional thinking, and actively seek out ideas and opinions from others both within and outside the organization, all to develop value-enhancing and strategic programs for Gas business.
  • Initiate and lead techno-economic feasibility studies of new projects to deliver growth of economic value from Downstream operations and resources in the Gas space.
  • Play a key role in all areas of transaction work including identifying, evaluating, structuring, negotiating, closing and integrating significant transactions, working collaboratively with internal team members and select external advisors.
  • Explore mutual areas of interest and develop good working relationship with potential business partners, which may lead to new joint venture development. This involves advising and facilitation with ADNOC functional support directorates on various activities to fulfil ADNOC Downstream and JV partners’ requirements.
  • Explore various opportunities for development and operation of new joint ventures in order to select the best option and follow up the plan and implementation of the approved options. Lead evaluation of options and recommend potential partners and initiatives for strategic investments.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Chemical / Mechanical / Petroleum Engineering or equivalent. Or Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management
  • 15 years of experience with in Gas industry with at least 6 years in a Business Development managerial role.
  • light, middle distillates and bottom-of the barrel components marketing with an excellent understanding of the various factors that affect Gas demand and supply, including supply, demand, capacities, inventories, futures markets, policies and trends in various geographic markets.
  • Integrated energy and petrochemical company.
  • Exposure to at least one merger or acquisition (M&A) through an entire cycle.
  • Must be well connected within the Gas market space with various stakeholders (gas/LNG companies, traders, IOCs, NOCs, information providers, etc.)
